- Craft story
- Crafted in the villages of West Bengal, this Tussar Silk with Kantha embroidery is a celebration of the region's living textile heritage. The Tussar silk is traditionally woven from the cocoons of wild silkworms found across eastern India, prized for its distinctive texture and natural honey-gold lustre. Once woven, skilled women artisans—particularly from districts such as Birbhum, Murshidabad, Bolpur and Bardhaman—embellish the fabric entirely by hand using the age-old Kantha technique. Characterised by thousands of fine running stitches, Kantha was historically a way for Bengali women to transform cherished textiles into works of art. Today, each embroidered motif carries forward generations of craftsmanship, patience, and storytelling, making every piece uniquely expressive and deeply connected to Bengal's cultural legacy.
